Sanctification
Speaker: John Lian
1 Thessalonians 4:3a. It is God's will that you should be sanctified.
1. The definition of sanctification (the what)
The process of Christian spiritual growth that starts at justification and is completed at death for our souls and when Jesus returns for our bodies which is glorification.
2. The purpose of sanctification (the whys)
The proof of our justification and salvation (Positional Sanctification) (Romans 6:1-4)
To be God's workmanship (Poeima, Masterpiece, vessel, object) created to do good works and produce much spiritual fruits. (Ephesians 2:8-10)
To achieve glorification (complete sanctification) (Ephesians 5:25-27)
To bring ascribed glory to God (Soli Deo Gloria) (Philippians 1:9-11)
3. Our role in sanctification (the How's)
Bible reading (Psalms 1:1-3, 1 Peter 2:1-3)
Prayer (Matthew 6:9-10)
Obedience to God (Philippians 2:12-13)
Perseverance through trials (James 1:2-4)
4. The test of true sanctification (the proof)
Self-examination (2 Cor 13:5-6, Gal 6:4 & 7:9)
Examination of those under your care (pastoral care)
To shepherd which includes rebukes and warnings
To watch which includes protection
(1 Peter 5:2-3, Acts 20:28-31)
Examples of Bible passages to self-examine yourself with:
1. The 1 John 10 point test:
1 John 1:7 - Walks in fellowship with the believers
1 John 1:8 - denies claiming sinless perfection on earth
1 John 2:3 - keeping God's commandments
1 John 2:15-16 - does not love the world
1 John 2:22-23 - Believes Jesus as fully God and fully man
1 John 3:2 - Longing for the return of jesus and glorification
1 John 3:9 - Does not sin habitually
1 John 3:14 - Love for the brethren
1 John 4:6 - Loves to hear sound teaching and preaching
1 John 4:15 - Acknowledges that Jesus is God proudly and publicly

- The forgiveness test
- The two greatest commandments test
- The cost of discipleship test

- The Godly sorrow test

成圣

1. 成圣是什么？
【帖撒罗尼迦前书5:23-24】神亲自使你们全然成圣，他必成就这事
-成为圣洁，基督是我们的榜样 （耶稣亲自来到世上，教导我们怎样成圣）
-聖的甲骨文：耳+口+人+土 = 人若聆听神的话语说神的话语，就是圣洁了
-【约翰福音 17:17-19】 （成圣=分别为圣）
-人生在世必经的过程 （成圣是个人生过程，称义-> 成圣-> 得荣耀）
2. 如何成圣呢？
-聖的繁体字：“王”字上面的横是天国，下面是地上的人 中间是基督的十架
-靠着圣灵的帮助
-【帖撒罗尼迦后书2:13】（被圣灵感动成为圣洁）
-【罗马书15:16】（因着圣灵成为圣洁）
-【约翰一书3:6】（凡住在他里面的，就不犯罪）
*神必帮助我们成为圣洁， 但我们也必须自己愿意分别为圣，成为圣洁（住在神里面）
3. 谁该成圣呢？
-“聖”字表明了是给所有住在土地上的人（有耳有口，能听能说的=人）
*上帝要与我们在一起 所以要成圣
-【希伯来书12:14】要追求圣洁，非圣洁没有人能够见主（如果没有成圣，没有人能见主）
*如果没有成圣，表示上帝没有在你的生活中工作
-神所爱的，祂必管教 （要自省，我们是真基督徒吗？ 神有管教你吗？）
总结：成圣
（1）形容词-神是圣洁的
（2）动词：神要我们成为圣洁
*成圣的目的：神要接纳我们回天国，和祂面对面。你愿意吗？你看得到你多有福分吗？

-“WWJD” ， 可以帮助我们,提醒我们，耶稣所做的选择，以圣洁的角度思考
Prayer Focus
-
Rui Yang - Give thanks for the encouragement and people God has given him. Pray that he’ll be able to have the right heart to serve.
-
Yuk Bin - Pray for wisdom to juggle his work and protection as due to the lack of staff, he would have to travel to multiple hospitals. Pray also for his 4 nieces that God will open the door for him to bring them to church.

Aunty Lydia – Continue to pray for a speedy recovery for her ankle and hand due to a fall.

Lee Choo - Pray for the future mission trips plan with OM Logos Hope and OMF, as she will meet with both the coordinators for further discussions. Pray also for a genuine selfless heart, care, and love for people. Pray that she may love in the same way Christ did.

Chiing - Pray for God’s guidance as she is changing her course recently. Pray that God can guide her to choose the right course.

Rui Yang - 感谢上帝所给予他的鼓励和感恩神所放置在他身边的人。祈祷他能够拥有一颗正确的心，并以正面的心态来到侍奉上帝。

Yuk Bin –由于缺乏员工，他不得已 必须到访多家医院（工作因素）。祈求上帝的保守并赐予他智慧，使得他能够应付工作方面的需求。同时，也为着他的四个侄女祈祷，愿上帝引领并藉他将她们带到教会。

Aunty Lydia – 祈求她的手和脚踝能够早日康复，因她日前不小心摔倒受伤了。
-
Lee Choo – 请为着她未来的短宣计划祈祷，因她将与“世界福音动员会-望道号”（OM Logos Hope）并“海外基督使团”（OMF）的负责人进行更深入的讨论。祈祷她能够拥有一颗真诚并无私的心，去爱并在乎上帝的人民。祈祷她能够学习以基督的爱来到爱人。

Chiing–请求上帝的引领，因她正处于转换科系的当儿。祈祷上帝引领使她能够做出正确的选择。
